Playing hide-and-seek with Hope

Hope hides in the closet,

Dressed in a plain white shirt

Sinking deeper and deeper as the seeker gives up.

In the Alchemist, Coelho shows that hope is a important thing to have if one is to achieve his destiny. Without hope, Santiago wouldn't have left Andalusia. Without hope, Santiago wouldn't have left the crystal merchant. Without hope, Santiago's treasure would have stay hidden. Hope helps start the journey, and hope helps end it. Without hope, there would be no dreams, no destinies. Hope might elude us sometimes, just like Santiago lost his hope of ever finding his treasure. But we need to keep looking for it, or else the game of hide-and-seek would be lost.
